By the 1930s, industrial alcohol – especially antifreeze – had become very big business at Gooderham & Worts. The company even published a book in 1938 to promote it. Building 47 (No. 24 Tank House Lane) became a centre of operations where “pure” alcohol was “denatured” to produce the necessary quantities of antifreeze and other industrial products.

Durant les années 1930, l’alcool industriel – surtout l’antigel – était devenu un gros créneau commercial pour Gooderham & Worts. En 1938, la compagnie publia même un livre pour faire la promotion de cet alcool. Le Bâtiment 47 en devint le centre des opérations; l’alcool pur y était dénaturé pour produire les quantités nécessaires d’antigel et d’autres produits à usage industriel.
